Join this conversation between Mr. Zhang Jian-Jun and Ms. Sara Mao (Director, Christie’s Education Asia Pacific) to explore Zhang’s artistic practice, his earlier developments and experiences during his residency. The conversation will be accompanied with a 30-minute guided tour to explore the central ideas brought about by Human Traces, a touring exhibition presented by KAF in partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) and curated by renowned Chinese scholar Wu Hung. The exhibition has attracted over 10,000 visitors to date.

About Zhang Jian-Jun: A pioneer of Chinese abstract art and figuration, Zhang has been expanding his artistic explorations with his oeuvre consistently combining the three core concepts in art history—the interaction between nature and humans, the traces people leave behind over the course of time, and the relationship between traditional and modern living.

About Sara Mao: Sara Mao is the Director for Christie’s Education in Asia Pacific, overseeing the development of programmes and partnerships across Hong Kong, China, and South East Asia. Sara joined Christie’s in 2008 and was appointed Specialist Head of Sale for Chinese Modern Paintings in 2015, and then as Director for Christie’s Education in 2018.
